The Ashlea, Cheadle - Food Review

in , , by Tori Harrison, January 19, 2020

We’ve recently been making a huge effort to shop and dine locally to our home. In recent months, the Cheadle High Street has seen several established businesses close its door due to ridiculous rent prices and landlords taking advantage of the ‘prime real estate’. This has led to many of the businesses being unable to afford their rent and moves out of the village onto other premises that are more affordable.

Cheadle has some beautiful little pubs, bars and restaurants that we really want to showcase over the next few weeks. The first in the series is a review on The Ashlea pub located on Manchester Road in Cheadle.

We popped along to their Thursday bistro rump steak deal and took full advantage of the beautiful food at the great price of £9.00.

I chose the 8 oz. Rump Steak with peppercorn sauce, chips, peas, tomato and a side of Mac & Cheese (pictured above). Andy chose the 8 oz. Rump Steak, chips, peas, tomato and ‘the surf and turf’ side. The food was exquisitely cooked and despite ordering late came very quickly. We chose beer and gin as our chosen drinks of the evening and had a lovely little date night.

The Ashlea pub itself has a very rustic feel with wooden floors, wood beamed ceilings and open fires which provide a warm and inviting feel. There were a few locals in attendance when we dined and they were all enjoying the cask ales, which seem to be regularly switched out for new ones. I think The Ashlea is missed by people using Cheadle’s High Street as it is located just off the High Street, it is only a one minute de tour from the main High Street and I would recommend anyone in the local area to pop in even if it is just for a Sunday evening drink.

Overall rating
I’d give our visit to The Ashlea a 5/5 sunflowers - ðŸŒ»ðŸŒ»ðŸŒ»ðŸŒ»ðŸŒ»

The food was delicious, well priced and the place was beautiful. The staff behind the bar were really friendly and made our visit very enjoyable.

If you can pop in this week and don’t forget to support other local businesses. We’ll be posting more reviews about our local area and the places we have been as part of this series so please get behind the content, share if you’re local to Cheadle and drop us an email with any suggestions of gems in Cheadle we may have missed!

Until Next Time
